Where you can travel visa-free with an Israeli passport in 2026
166 destinations without a prior visa: Schengen, Japan and Latin America visa-free, the USA, the UK and Canada with an electronic travel authorisation. But the passport is not issued right after repatriation.
In short
An Israeli passport gives entry without a prior visa to 166 of 227 countries and territories: the whole Schengen area, Russia, Japan, Singapore, the UAE and almost all of Latin America, with an electronic travel authorisation for the USA, the UK and Canada. China and Australia require a visa, and several Middle Eastern countries do not admit Israeli passport holders.

An Israeli passport opens 166 of 227 destinations without a prior visa: 121 fully visa-free, 28 with a visa on arrival and 17 with an electronic travel authorisation. That is 52 more than the Russian passport, and more importantly the list includes Schengen, the USA, the UK and Canada, which are closed to Russians without visas.
Since 30 September 2023 Israel has been part of the US Visa Waiver Program: instead of a US visa, an electronic travel authorisation obtained online is enough. For a Russian citizen who left through repatriation, this is the main practical gain - trips to Europe and America without consulates, queues and refusals.
We will work out online when you can apply and what fees and documents will cost for your family.
Where you can go visa-free with a Israeli passport
Entry regimes differ in how much preparation the trip needs. Visa-free means the passport is enough and the permitted stay is set at the border. A visa on arrival means a fee and a stamp at the airport or checkpoint. An electronic travel authorisation is a short online form and fee before departure. An e-visa is also online but involves a check and a consular decision. A regular visa means a form, documents, often a personal visit to the consulate and waiting for a decision.
| Region | Visa-free or with an electronic authorisation | Visa on arrival or e-visa | Visa needed in advance |

| Europe | Schengen area, United Kingdom (online authorisation), Ireland, Cyprus, Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Turkey, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, North Macedonia | - | - |
| Caucasus and Central Asia | Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan | Armenia, Azerbaijan | - |
| Asia | Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea (online authorisation), Singapore, Thailand, Philippines | Vietnam, India | China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives |
| Middle East and Africa | UAE, South Africa, Kenya (online authorisation) | Jordan, Morocco, Tanzania | Saudi Arabia, Oman, Egypt |
| Americas | USA (online authorisation), Canada (online authorisation), Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Panama, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Uruguay | - | Colombia |
| Oceania | New Zealand (online authorisation) | - | Australia |
The Israeli passport is visa-free for the whole Schengen area and Ireland, Russia and Belarus, the Balkans, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, the UAE, South Africa and almost all of Latin America - from Mexico and Brazil to Argentina and Chile. Colombia requires a visa. Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Kuwait and Algeria do not admit Israeli passport holders, and China, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Maldives require a visa in advance.
The table shows the main destinations for travel, living and business, not all 227 countries and territories. An electronic travel authorisation is issued online within minutes or days; an e-visa is also applied for online, but it is a separate consular decision. Entry rules change several times a year: check with an expert for your trip.
Schengen, the UK, the USA and Canada
Schengen. An Israeli citizen enters the Schengen area without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180. Living and working there require a permit.
United Kingdom. No visa is needed, but an electronic travel authorisation is obtained before the trip: an online form and fee, usually decided within a few days.
USA. Since 2023 Israel has been in the Visa Waiver Program: tourist and business trips of up to 90 days with an electronic travel authorisation. Anyone who has visited certain countries or was previously refused needs a regular visa.
Canada. With an electronic travel authorisation obtained online before departure.
Asia. Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand are visa-free, South Korea requires an electronic travel authorisation. China requires a visa.
What else a Israeli passport gives
A travel document in the first year. Right after repatriation, a travel document is issued instead of a full passport, and not every country recognises it. The passport is issued after a year if the person spent at least 60% of that year in Israel.
Dual citizenship. Israel does not require giving up a previous citizenship, so the Russian passport is kept. The Russian Interior Ministry must be notified of the second citizenship within 60 days.
Taxes. New immigrants' foreign income is exempt from Israeli tax for 10 years. But for those who became resident from 1 January 2026, the reporting exemption has been abolished: foreign income and assets must be declared to the tax authority.
Life in Israel. A citizen lives and works in the country without permits and receives state health insurance and first-year immigrant support.
How to get a Israeli passport
Russian citizens almost always obtain Israeli citizenship under the 1950 Law of Return. The right to repatriate belongs to Jews, their children and grandchildren, and the spouses of each. Descent is proven with documents through every generation, and the consular check makes sure the chain is unbroken.
Citizenship is granted on repatriation under the 1952 Citizenship Law, with no residence, exams or renunciation of the previous passport. Naturalisation for those without a right of return requires many years of residence and is rare among Russian citizens.
Requirements, timelines and documents are on the page Israeli citizenship through repatriation.
An Israeli passport starts with the consular check
The law does not forbid going through repatriation on your own. But mistakes cost more than the fees: a gap in documents between generations, an archive certificate in the wrong format, differences in surname spelling, not being ready for the check questions. We gather documents in Russian and other archives, check the chain before booking the check and prepare the whole family for it.
The cost of support depends on the number of generations and archives; a manager will calculate it in the chat.
