Namibia is a country in south-west Africa with an affordable cost of living. The Digital Nomad Visa is designed for remote workers and is issued for up to 6 months.

Who can get the visa

The visa is available to remote workers. You need to prove a monthly income of at least $2,000.

Taxes

Namibia has a progressive personal income tax with rates from 0% to 37%.

Cost of living

A family of four spends around $1,900 a month excluding rent. For one person it is around $600 a month excluding rent. A one-bedroom apartment in the city centre rents for around $400 a month.

In a free consultation we check whether this programme suits you and help you put the documents together.

Income for families

Who travelsIncome a month
Applicantfrom $2,000
Spouseplus $1,000
Each childplus $500

For example, a couple with one child must show at least $3,500 a month. Income is proven with 6 months of bank statements and payslips or a contract stating the salary.

Term and renewal

The visa allows you to live in Namibia for up to 6 months. It cannot be renewed: after it expires you can reapply only after 12 months. If you want to stay longer, other grounds exist; see the Namibia residence page.

We will check online whether your income is enough with your family included and calculate the visa cost for each member.

Documents

  • Visa application form.
  • Medical certificate on the official form.
  • Radiological report: chest X-ray for tuberculosis screening.
  • Police clearance from your country of citizenship.
  • Certified passport copy.
  • 6 months of bank statements.
  • Health insurance for the whole stay.
  • Employer letter or client contracts.

How the process works

  1. Preparation. Medical certificate, X-ray and police clearance are done in advance; this is the longest part.
  2. Online application. Filed through the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board, which runs the programme.
  3. Decision. Usually within a few weeks.
  4. Entry and fee payment at the border.

Work and stay rules

  • Your employer and clients must be outside Namibia.
  • You cannot seek or take up local employment on this visa.
  • The visa cannot be renewed: a new stay is possible only after 12 months.

Taxes

Namibia's personal income tax scale runs from 0% to 37%. For a stay of up to 6 months working for a foreign employer, tax is usually settled in your country of tax residence, but check this in advance. More on the Namibia taxes page.

Cost by item

  • visa fee - $210 (3,300 Namibian dollars), paid after approval;
  • a medical certificate in the prescribed form and a chest X-ray - at clinic rates;
  • a police certificate and its English translation if it is in another language;
  • health insurance for the whole stay;
  • housing - about $400 a month for a one-bedroom apartment in the centre.

Our manager calculates the cost of our support in the chat and confirms it in writing. The Namibian dollar is pegged to the South African rand. Dollar amounts use the market rate of 17 October 2026, 16.46 Namibian dollars per US dollar, rounded up.

Entry in 2026

Since 1 April 2025 Namibia has ended visa-free entry for citizens of 33 countries, including the US, the UK, Germany, France, Canada and Australia: they need a visa on arrival or an e-visa. Visa-free travel between Russia and Namibia remains. The remote worker visa is needed by anyone who wants to live and work in the country longer than the usual tourist stay.

Taxes: an important detail

Namibia taxes income from work performed on its territory, and there is no special exemption for remote workers. So before moving, work out where and on what income you will pay tax, especially if your stay approaches six months.

Comparison with other African programmes

Cabo Verdeup to 6 months plus 6 moreaverage balance from $1,700 (1,500 euros) over 6 months
