Seychelles digital nomad visa - program closed
The Visitors' Workcation Permit has effectively been discontinued: the official portal is offline and the immigration service no longer mentions the program (August 2026). The working alternative is a Visitor's Permit for up to 3 months, extendable to 12 in total.
The Seychelles digital nomad visa, officially the Visitors' Workcation Permit, used to let foreigners working remotely live and work on the islands legally. By mid-2026 the program has effectively been wound down - here is what that means and what the alternative is.
What happened to the program
By mid-2026 the program's official portal, workcation.sc, went offline, and the Seychelles immigration service (ICS) removed all mentions of Workcation from its visa pages. There was no formal closure announcement - the program was quietly wound down. Applying for it is effectively no longer possible. The alternative: Visitor's Permit
For living and working remotely from Seychelles, the standard visa-free Visitor's Permit remains: it is issued on arrival for up to 3 months and can then be extended - up to 12 months in total. Formally this is a visitor status, not a work visa, so the details - working for a foreign employer, funds and document requirements - are something we'll clarify at a consultation.

Seychelles no longer has a remote work programme, and the visitor's permit is extended every 3 months, up to 12 months in total. The law does not stop you applying on your own, but extensions are lost over small things: no return ticket or accommodation booking for the new period, too little money on the account, an application filed on the last day or after it, signs of work for local clients. We plan the year in advance, gather documents for each extension, track deadlines and pick a country with a full nomad visa if Seychelles does not fit.

Can you work remotely
The law bars foreigners from working in Seychelles without a work permit, even unpaid. There is no longer a special permit for remote work for a foreign employer. In practice people stay on a visitor's permit and work for foreign clients, but this is a grey area: understand the risk and take no local clients.
