In detail

Money is sent to Mali to an account at a Malian bank, and it arrives in CFA francs in 1-3 business days. The recipient gives a 24-character account number and their name. The CFA franc is pegged to the euro: €1 always equals 655.957 francs, so from the euro area the sum arrives without market conversion.

The CFA franc in Mali: euros at a fixed rate, dollars at the day's rate

Mali is one of the eight countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union with a shared CFA franc and a shared Central Bank of West African States. The rate to the euro is fixed, so a sum in euros can be worked out in advance, while a sum in dollars only at the rate on the day of sending:

$1,000586,880rate on 7 October 2026

Calculated at the Central Bank of West African States reference rate. If your money is in dollars, it is better to exchange it once into euros or CFA francs at the sending bank than to have it exchanged twice along the way.

Transfers between union countries: Mali ranks third

Money often reaches Mali from neighbouring union countries: in 2024 Mali ranked third for such transfers. Central Bank of West African States data for 2024, sending and receiving combined:

Burkina Faso22 million1,459 billion$2.5 billion
Mali17 million1,054 billion$1.8 billion

Within the country the same money spreads across e-money wallets: at the end of 2024 Mali had 18.1 million wallets, 6.15 million of them active, and over the year they handled 1.27 billion transactions worth $32 billion (18,744 billion francs), 18.6% more than in 2023.

We will help you send money to Mali

Mistakes cost more than fees: dollars exchanged into euros and then into CFA francs with a double loss, a mixed-up branch code in the 24-character account number, a transfer sent through a chain of banks with extra fees, a Malian bank without papers on the source of the money. We will help you avoid them: we choose a legal transfer route from your country, prepare the source-of-funds documents for the Malian bank and carry out the transfer through licensed partners through to crediting.

Details and terms are with a manager in the chat: the cost depends on the sum, the currency and the sending country.
