Business accounts: Moldova
An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.
Moldovan banks are supervised by the National Bank of Moldova and open company accounts in lei, euro, dollars and other currencies. Since 6 October 2025 Moldova has been part of the Single Euro Payments Area, so euro transfers with EU partners are fast and cheap, as within the EU. A business account here is opened mainly for a Moldovan company: trading and service firms, manufacturers, and IT park residents paying a 7% single tax on turnover.
Who will get an account
| Company | Chances | What else the bank will ask |
|---|---|---|
| Moldovan company with a local director and office | high | register extract, contracts, business description |
| Moldovan company with a foreign owner | high to medium | owner's documents with apostille and translation, source of capital |
| IT park resident | high | proof of status, client contracts |
| Foreign company with no business in Moldova | low | a convincing business link to Moldova |
What the bank will check
- The state register extract, articles, decision on incorporation and appointment of the director.
- Passports of the director and beneficial owners, the people who hold more than 25% of the company or control it in another way.
- For corporate foreign owners: a register extract from their country with apostille and Romanian translation.
- What the company does, who its clients and suppliers are, in which countries and currencies payments will flow.
- Source of the share capital and of the first receipts.
How the opening works
| Stage | What happens | Time |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Assessment | ownership structure, activities, payment countries | 1-2 days |
| 2. Pack | company and owner documents, translations, business description | 1-2 weeks |
| 3. Review | meeting with the director in person or by video, bank questions | from a few days to 2-3 weeks |
| 4. Setup | online banking, cards, accounts in the required currencies | 1-3 days |
If the director lives abroad, some steps are remote, but the bank usually wants to speak to the director in person or by video at least once and verify the signature.
Payments and taxes
Payments between Moldovan companies within the country are generally made in lei, while foreign partners can be paid in euro, dollars and other currencies. Instant payments work within the country, and since October 2025 Single Euro Payments Area rules apply to euro. Corporate income tax in Moldova is 12% and dividend tax 6%, while IT park residents pay a 7% single tax on turnover instead of most taxes. The bank will ask which regime the company uses and compare turnover with its tax filings.
Address and employees
A Moldovan company must have a registered address in Moldova: it is stated at registration and the bank checks it against the register. If the company has employees, the bank will ask about salaries and payroll taxes: employee income tax is 12%, and for IT park residents it is included in the single tax. The closer the business description is to the real payments, the faster the review.
Who gets refused
The bank will refuse if the company has no clear business in Moldova, if the ownership structure is opaque or the beneficial owners cannot be identified, if the source of capital cannot be proven with documents, or if the company, its owners or counterparties are linked to sanctions. We check whether the bank works with Russian citizens before preparing documents.
What we do
Murblz specialists assess the chances before applying, choose a bank for your currencies and payment countries, prepare company and owner documents with translations, the business description and the explanation of the source of capital, arrange the director's meeting with the bank and handle correspondence until the account is open. If there is no company yet, we register it together with the account and, if needed, handle IT park admission. We fix the estimate in writing; the decision to open an account always rests with the bank.
