Mauritius permanent residence by investment
Permanent residence for living and doing business on an island in the Indian Ocean. Several routes to the status, from investing in property to opening your own company.

Mauritius is an island state in the south-western Indian Ocean that includes the island of Mauritius and a number of smaller islands: Rodrigues, Agalega, Cargados Carajos and others. Paradise beaches, lagoons with crystal-clear water, huge baobabs and mango trees charm foreigners from all over the world.

What changed in 2026
The 2026-2027 budget and the Finance Act 2026, signed on 12 August 2026, rewrote the rules for occupation and residence permits:
- the minimum investment for an investor rose to $100,000, and for renewal the company must show revenue of at least 5 million rupees, about $104,900, from the third year and 8 million rupees, about $167,800, from the fifth;
- two categories for professionals were merged into one with a salary from 50,000 rupees a month, about $1,050, in all sectors;
- the separate family permit was abolished;
- current holders are assessed under the former criteria at their first renewal from 1 October 2026.
For retirees aged 50 and over
A retiree aged 50 or over gets a 10-year residence permit, renewable for another 10, by proving income of $2,000 a month or $24,000 a year. The fee is $1,000. A spouse, parents and unmarried children receive permits alongside. You can invest in a business but may not be employed or draw a salary from it. The permit is issued for 10 years at once, so there is no annual renewal; you just keep up the monthly transfers.
20-year permanent residence
An investor who has held a permit for 5 years can get a 20-year permanent residence permit if company revenue is at least 15 million rupees, about $314,500, each year or 75 million rupees, about $1.58 million, over 5 consecutive years. The principal applicant pays $3,000 for the permanent residence permit.
Cost by item
- fee for the retiree permit - $1,000, for permanent residence - $3,000;
- investment under your chosen ground: from $100,000 in a company or from $375,000 in property under approved schemes;
- company registration in Mauritius with our support;
- health insurance and document preparation.
Exchange rate 47.7 rupees per dollar on 6 October 2026. Our manager calculates the cost of support for the permit itself in the chat.
Resident taxes
You become tax resident after 183 days on the island in a tax year or 270 days over that year and the two before; the tax year starts on 1 July. Individual rates are 0 to 20%, and foreign income is taxed only when the money reaches Mauritius. Tax-resident companies pay 15% corporate tax, and a 5% transfer tax is due when buying property.
