Company registration in Monaco in 2026

Every company in Monaco is set up with government authorisation and an office in the Principality. We handle the application, office, bank and registration turnkey.

Monaco is one of Europe's most prestigious jurisdictions: stability, the euro, no personal income tax for residents other than French nationals, and profit tax only for companies earning mainly outside the Principality. But setting up a company here is harder than in most EU countries: every activity needs government authorisation and a real office.

Applications are reviewed by the Business Development Agency (Direction du Développement Économique), and companies are entered in the Trade and Industry Register (RCI). Dollar amounts below use the European Central Bank rate of 5 October 2026, $1.1204 per euro, rounded up.

Which company to set up in Monaco

  • Limited liability company (SARL) - capital from €15,000, about $16,900, in cash or in kind. Suits trade, services and consulting. Every partner and manager is vetted by the government.
  • Monegasque public limited company (SAM) - capital from €150,000, about $168,100, with at least a quarter paid before registration. Formed through a notary, needed for larger projects and regulated activities.
  • Branch or representative office of a foreign company - for the parent company's work in Monaco, also with authorisation.
  • Sole trader - for a Monaco resident working alone.

The form follows the activity: some activities, for example financial ones, are allowed only as a SAM.

2. Application to the Business Development Agencydocuments of partners and manager: passports, criminal record certificates, CVs, proof of funds1-2 weeks to prepare
3. Government authorisationreview of the project and people; under the 2025 law the deadline is up to 45 days after a complete file, longer for regulated activities1.5-4 months
4. Articles and capitalsigning the articles, before a notary for a SAM, and paying capital into a Monaco bank account2-6 weeks

Capital is the company's money, not a cost. The main spending is the office, lawyers and accountant. Our turnkey packages are in the price table below.

Capital from $16,900 and government approval for every activity

The law does not stop you from opening a company in Monaco on your own. But mistakes cost more than the fees: an application for government approval without a business plan and proof of experience, an office that does not meet the real presence requirements, the wrong company form and capital, publications and the notary done in the wrong order. Murblz specialists choose the form, prepare the approval application, find an office and run the registration to the registry entry, linking the company to residence if needed.

The cost of support depends on the company type, ownership structure and whether you need an account; a manager will calculate it in the chat.

What taxes a company pays in Monaco

  • Profit tax (ISB) - 25%, but only if the company earns more than 25% of turnover outside Monaco or receives intellectual property income. A company working mainly inside the Principality pays no profit tax.
  • VAT - 20%, under the same rules as France by virtue of the 1963 customs convention.
  • No personal income tax for Monaco residents, except French nationals.
  • Social contributions on employees' salaries go to Monaco's funds.

Even without profit tax the company keeps books, files accounts and VAT returns, and the tax office checks how turnover is split.

Company and residence in Monaco

A company is one route to Monaco residence: a manager who genuinely runs the business in the Principality can apply for a residence card. Residence also requires housing in Monaco and proof of sufficient means. We combine company registration and the residence application into one plan.

Why registration is delayed or refused

  • There is no real office, or the lease does not suit the activity.
  • The project is described in general terms, without a business plan or proven experience.
  • The activity is regulated and the licence is not prepared.
  • The partners' source of funds is not evidenced.
  • A Monaco bank will not open the capital account because the file is incomplete.

What we do

We choose the company form for the activity, help find an office, prepare the project and application to the Business Development Agency and the partners' and manager's documents, follow the review, open the capital account, and handle the articles, registration and publications. After that we keep the books and VAT and link the company to residence. Prices for each service are in the table below.
