Business accounts: Bahrain

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

Bahrain is one of the oldest banking centres in the Gulf and a less obvious alternative to the UAE. We assist with account opening at Bahraini banks: Al Salam Bank, Arab Bank, Bahrain Development Bank, Bahrain Islamic Bank, BBK, Khaleeji Bank, Kuwait Financial House and National Bank of Bahrain. Clients typically need an account here because they do business in the Gulf region or want banking exposure beyond the mainstream destinations.

Bahrain is not a volume destination, which makes preparation matter even more. We first assess your profile and tell you which banks on the list are a realistic fit, then help assemble the documents, present the origin of your funds properly, and manage communication with the bank until it decides. The decision is the bank's - there is no such thing as a guaranteed opening, only preparation that makes a positive outcome more likely.

An account for a company in Bahrain

Business accounts in Bahrain are opened primarily for companies registered in the country through the Ministry of Industry and Commerce's commercial registration system. The bank first checks a valid commercial registration, the licensed activities and the owners, so business registration and the account are planned together. More in company registration in Bahrain.

Taxes

Most companies in Bahrain pay no general corporate income tax. Since 1 January 2025, under Decree-Law No. 11 of 2024, a 15% domestic minimum top-up tax applies to multinational groups with annual revenue of EUR 750 million or more. For small and medium businesses, substance requirements and VAT matter more.

What the bank checks for a company

  • the commercial registration, articles and details of directors and owners;
  • an office and real activity in Bahrain;
  • a business plan, contracts and expected turnover;
  • the origin of the capital and the owners' funds.

Documents for a business account

  • a valid commercial registration and articles;
  • passports and proof of address of directors and owners;
  • an office lease in Bahrain;
  • a business plan, counterparty contracts and expected turnover;
  • proof of the origin of the capital.

How the account opening works

  1. Registration. We register the company and obtain the commercial registration with the right activities.
  2. Office. We arrange an office, which the bank checks as a sign of real activity.
  3. Bank. We choose a bank, including an Islamic one if it suits the business model.
  4. Review. We prepare documents and support the bank meeting.
  5. Opening. The bank opens the account after its checks.

Currency

The Bahraini dinar is pegged to the US dollar at a fixed rate, so currency risk is minimal for companies trading in dollars. Bahraini banks open accounts in dinars and major foreign currencies.

Why businesses are refused

  • the company is registered but has no activity in Bahrain;
  • the licensed activities do not match actual payments;
  • an opaque ownership structure;
  • links to sanctioned countries.

Assistance with opening an account in a Bahraini bank costs $11,000.

A bank opens the account if the company operates in Bahrain

The law does not stop you applying to a Bahraini bank on your own. But mistakes cost more than the fee: a company registered but not operating in the country, registered activities that do not match real payments, an opaque ownership structure. Murblz support removes these risks: we align the registration with the payments, disclose the structure and source of funds, choose the bank and handle the review until the decision. We guarantee professional work and a transparent process, and in most cases a result on the first filing.

The support fee depends on the bank, the company structure and turnover; a manager will calculate it in the chat.
