The Guinean franc rate: keep dollars in the account or exchange straight away
The Guinean franc is pegged neither to the euro nor to the dollar: the rate is set on the interbank market, and the central bank publishes a reference rate every day. Guinean banks keep current, savings and term accounts in dollars and euros, so a large amount is conveniently received in foreign currency and exchanged in parts, as expenses arise.

Guinea has no international account number. The sender is given the recipient bank's international code and the local account number: the bank code, the branch code, the account itself and the key. The number length varies by bank, so it is copied in full from the statement.
Guinea's instant payment system: what started working in 2026
On 15 January 2025 the central bank launched a national switch for cards and electronic payments. On 22 July 2026 an instant payment system opened on its basis: it moves money around the clock between banks, e-wallets and microfinance institutions. Participants are connected in turn. Large amounts between banks go through the central bank's real-time settlement system.

Under Article 1 of the 1992 Land and State Property Code, land and buildings in Guinea may be owned by the state, individuals and companies; the code sets no condition on the buyer's citizenship. Buying a house from abroad is planned together with the transfer: the payment currency, the seller's account and the documents for registration. Our manager will review the deal and the payment order.
