How to send money to Chad in 2026: the CFA franc at a fixed euro rate, N'Djamena banks and profit transfers under the investment charter
In 2026 a dollar in Chad is worth about 587 francs, and a euro is always 655.957. We explain which currency to send to a bank in N'Djamena, what the 2008 law guarantees foreigners when they transfer profit and salary savings, how a company buys a building and which papers each amount needs.
Money is sent to Chad in euros or dollars to an account at a bank in N'Djamena, Moundou or Abéché, and the bank credits it in Central African CFA francs. A euro is always worth 655.957 francs, and a dollar in October 2026 is about 587. From France and the rest of Europe this is the most predictable route.

The CFA franc in N'Djamena: 655.957 per euro and about 587 per dollar
Chad belongs to a monetary union of six Central African countries with a shared central bank and a shared franc. The franc's rate to the euro is fixed by an agreement with France, which guarantees convertibility, and has not changed since 1999.
That is why euros are the easier currency to send from Europe: €2,000 converts to exactly 1,311,914 francs before fees. The dollar is converted through the euro, and its rate to the franc changes every day. A manager will suggest how to send your amount without an extra conversion.

N'Djamena stands where the Chari and Logone rivers meet, on the border with Cameroon, and almost every bank in the country has its head office here. More about the capital is on the N'Djamena page.
The 2008 investment charter: profit, asset sales and salary savings
The 2008 investment charter law guarantees the free transfer of capital under the currency rules of the franc zone. Under article 12, profit shown in the accounts, money from selling or closing a business and the savings of foreigners working for Chadian companies can all be sent abroad.
Article 13 lets companies with foreign capital acquire rights to real estate, concessions and licences on the same terms as Chadian companies. So money for buying a building or a warehouse is sent to the seller's account under the contract, as in any domestic deal.
Oil through a 1,070 km pipeline: where Chad's foreign currency comes from
Since 2003 oil from the fields near Doba in the south has flowed through a 1,070 km pipeline to a sea terminal near Kribi in Cameroon. Oil is Chad's main export, so large contract payments in dollars and euros pass through N'Djamena's banks.
If a business transfer or a deal calls for a lot of paperwork, there are usually more options than it seems: a manager will choose the route.

For a private sender something else matters more: the amount in francs depends only on the euro rate, not on oil prices.
Documents for a bank in N'Djamena: three amount thresholds
Up to $10,000. The bank only asks for the purpose: family support, study, medical treatment.
$10,000-100,000. You need a six-month account statement and a paper on where the money comes from: a sale contract, an income certificate or a gift agreement.
From $100,000. A source-of-wealth file and the deal contracts are prepared; details are in proof of source of funds and moving home sale proceeds abroad, and moving capital as a whole is on the capital relocation page. A manager will calculate in the chat what a transfer of that size costs.
From N'Djamena to Nigeria, the Central African Republic and the Republic of the Congo
To Nigeria money goes in dollars or euros, and a bank in Lagos or Abuja changes it into naira. To the Central African Republic and the Republic of the Congo money goes in francs, with no conversion. To Equatorial Guinea it also goes in CFA francs.
