How a family from Russia got Argentine citizenship after moving to Buenos Aires

Alexey moved to Buenos Aires with his wife Irina and their two children. At first the family saw Argentina as a temporary home, but after a few years they decided to build their future there.

The goal

The family's main goal was Argentine citizenship. Despite years of living in the country, they still had many questions about the court procedure, the documents required and the order in which the court reviews applications.

How naturalisation works in Argentina

Argentine citizenship by naturalisation is granted by a federal court under Law 346. The basis is two years of residence in the country with a residence permit. The applicant gathers certificates, publishes a notice of the application and attends a hearing before a judge. Documents from the country of birth need an apostille and a sworn translation, and residence is proven with a lease, utility bills and tax records. The court process takes from a year in smaller courts to 2-5 years in busy ones. There is no court fee: applicants pay only for official certificates and the published notice.

What we did

Murblz specialists handled the family's naturalisation together with locally licensed partners. We prepared the documents, dealt with requests from the court and guided the family through every stage. We paid particular attention to the documents of every family member to avoid unnecessary delays and repeat requests.

Successful outcome

The family successfully completed naturalisation: after taking the oath, all four received Argentine ID cards and passports. A standard passport costs about $70 and is issued to adults for 10 years. It gives visa-free access to 169 destinations, and there is no need to give up a previous citizenship.
