Company registration in Latvia

Companies in Latvia are registered by the Register of Enterprises. The main form is the limited liability company (SIA). Its share capital is at least €2,800, about $3,140 at the rate of 5 October 2026, rounded up (€1 = $1.12), the nominal value of a share is at least 1 cent, and capital is paid in cash or in kind, according to the Register of Enterprises.

The state fee for registering a limited liability company is €75, about $85, for registration within 3 working days; it is the same for one or several founders. A fee of about $85 and 3 working days, but the bank checks harder than the register
The law does not stop you from registering a company on your own. But mistakes cost more than the fees: errors in the founding documents that make the register return the application, a small-capital company whose members are personally liable for debts up to $3,200, VAT remembered only after the first invoices, a bank refusal when the source of money cannot be proven. How registration works

Small-capital LLC
The law allows an LLC with capital from €1 to €2,799. Its members can only be individuals, no more than five, and only members can sit on the board. Each year 25% of profit goes into a mandatory reserve until the capital can be raised to €2,800, and if the company cannot pay its debts, the members personally cover the shortfall up to €2,800. What documents you need
Passports of the members and director, the memorandum or founding decision, proof of the company address and beneficial ownership details; for a corporate member, its registry extract translated and apostilled. For the bank, a business description and source of funds documents.
