Since 2022 Belize companies, including former international business companies, are registered under a single Companies Act. The Belize Companies and Corporate Affairs Registry registers them, and documents are filed by a registered agent, a licensed Belize firm that provides the registered address. The registry fee for incorporation is BZD 300, or $150 when filed through an agent, for capital of up to 50,000 shares; above that it is $1,000.
Belize is chosen for simple holding and trading structures with foreign owners. But a company carrying on certain activities must meet the economic substance law, and banks abroad look at such companies ever more closely.

Registry fees from $150, and the registry can be dealt with only through an agent
A company under the Belize Companies Act 2022 can be registered only through a registered agent. Mistakes cost more than the fees: a share capital that raises the registry fee from $150 to $1,000, a missed annual renewal, an address and agent that do not meet the law's requirements, documents without an apostille for the bank. Why registration gets delayed
- The agent cannot complete the checks: proof of address or of the founders' source of funds is missing.
- The name duplicates an existing one or contains words that need a licence, such as bank or insurance.
- The activity falls under the economic substance law and there is no plan to meet it.
- Corporate founders' documents lack an apostille or proof of authority.
