Company registration in Australia in 2026

A proprietary limited company: regulator fees, a director who lives in Australia, the director ID and taxes from the first year.

A foreigner can own 100% of an Australian proprietary company, but under the Corporations Act at least one director must ordinarily reside in Australia. Every director needs a director ID before appointment. From 1 July 2026 registering a company costs AUD 636, about $450, and the regulator's annual review fee is AUD 342, about $240.

Registration is about $450, but without a director living in Australia there is no company

The law does not forbid registering a company in Australia on your own. But mistakes cost more than the fees: no director who lives in Australia, no director identification number, without which nobody can act as a director, a missed annual fee that attracts a late charge, failing to register for goods and services tax in time. We register the company, provide a local director, obtain the numbers and keep the tax accounts.

The cost of support depends on the directors and tax accounting; a manager will calculate it in the chat.

The company and moving

A company alone gives no visa. The 132 business visa is closed to new applications and the whole business program closed on 31 July 2024; an entrepreneur's move is now planned through the talent visa. More on our Australia business visa 132 and talent visa page.

Why registration gets delayed
