Business accounts: Austria

An honest assessment before work starts, the quote is fixed in writing.

Austria offers a conservative, reliable banking system inside the EU. Clients choose it when they need a European bank for holding funds, euro payments or private banking. We assist with account opening at Austrian banks including Erste Bank, Hypo Vorarlberg, Kathrein Privatbank, LLB Österreich and Deutsche Bank AG, among others.

As everywhere in the EU, Austrian banks demand transparency: a clear client profile and a documented source of funds are non-negotiable. We assess your case, identify banks genuinely willing to consider your profile, help you assemble and present the documents, and manage communication with the bank through to its decision. We cannot guarantee an opening - that is the bank's call - but we only take on cases where we see a realistic path.

An account for an Austrian company: bank first, then the register

An Austrian limited liability company opens its account before registration: capital is paid into it, at least €5,000 of the minimum €10,000, about $5,700 of $11,300, and the bank confirmation is needed for the Commercial Register entry. A single founder who is a natural person can register without a notary: they visit the bank in person, pay in the capital, leave a specimen signature and then file through the government portal with an electronic signature. More on the steps on our Austria company registration page.

We will calculate online the cost of opening an account for your company and maintaining it for a year.

What the bank checks

  • Formation documents, the Commercial Register extract after registration, managing directors' passports.
  • Ultimate owner details: the company files them with Austria's beneficial owner register within 4 weeks of registration.
  • A business description, clients and payment countries, source of capital.
  • A trade licence if the activity needs one.

Taxes and protection of funds

Corporate tax is 23% with a €500 annual minimum, about $570; dividends are taxed at 27.5% and VAT is 20%. Deposits in Austrian banks are insured up to €100,000, about $112,100, per depositor per bank.

Why Austrian banks refuse companies

  • No link to Austria: no office, staff or clients in the country.
  • Owners from high-risk or sanctioned countries.
  • The source of capital is not proven.
  • The activity needs a trade licence that is missing.

What we do

  • We open the account for paying in capital and obtain the bank confirmation.
  • We register the company and file owner details with the beneficial owner register.
  • We prepare the bank pack: business description, contracts, source of funds.

An Austrian bank looks at the source of funds before the amount

The law does not stop you applying for an Austrian bank account on your own. But mistakes cost more: an application to a bank that does not work with your country or business type, incomplete proof of the source of funds, a company structure the bank does not understand and a refusal that stays on record and hurts the next application. Murblz specialists assess your case, choose the bank, prepare the documents and support the dialogue with the bank up to the decision. We guarantee professional work and a transparent process.

The cost depends on the company structure and the chosen bank; package prices are in the table on the page, and a manager will calculate the total in the chat.
