How to send money to Venezuela in 2026: in bolívars, to a currency account and to family
A Venezuelan bank accepts a transfer from abroad in 1-3 business days in two ways: in bolívars at the central bank rate or in dollars and euros to a currency account. The recipient's details are a 20-digit number, the bank's international code and the name. In 2026, for family it is enough to state the purpose, such as family support, and from $10,000 the bank looks at a statement and a contract.

The bolívar rate: 875.65 per dollar according to the central bank
875.65 bolívars per dollar is the official rate of the Central Bank of Venezuela on 9 October 2026. It is calculated every day as the weighted average rate of the deals banks make on their currency exchange desks, so the rate at the recipient's bank is close to the official one. At this rate $500 gives the recipient 437,826 bolívars, and $1,000 gives 875,651 bolívars.
Since 15 September 2026 banks pay interest on all bolívar deposits, including current accounts: at least 10% a year on a current account, 42% on a savings account and 46% on a term deposit. Under Exchange Agreement No. 1 of 2018 the country's banks also open foreign currency accounts, so the recipient can keep a transfer in dollars until the day it is needed.

We will help you send money to Venezuela
Mistakes cost more than fees: an account number with the wrong bank code in the first 4 digits, a relief transfer without the purpose in the payment details, crediting in bolívars when the family needs dollars. We will help you avoid them: we will choose the route and timing, prepare the source-of-funds documents for the bank and carry out the transfer through to crediting.
Details and terms are with a manager in the chat: the cost depends on the sum and the purpose of the transfer.
The central bank and three state banks: a licence of 14 April 2026
On 14 April 2026 the US Treasury issued General License No. 57. It authorised financial services involving the Central Bank of Venezuela and three state banks: maintaining accounts, money transfers and payments to family, salaries and pensions, bank cards, mobile wallets, currency exchange and correspondent accounts in dollars.
So a payment to an account at these banks goes through as an ordinary international transfer: the sending bank checks the recipient, the purpose and the source of the money. If the recipient holds an account at a state bank, a manager will check the route before sending.
Relief after the earthquake of 24 June 2026: until 23 October
On 24 June 2026 two strong earthquakes, of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, struck Venezuela near the state of Yaracuy. The next day the US Treasury issued General License No. 60: all transactions related to helping those affected are authorised until 23 October 2026, including money transfers to Venezuela from people and companies in other countries.
The payment details of such a transfer state what the money is for: repairing a home, medical treatment, food and goods for the family. The recipient keeps receipts and the contract with the builder to confirm the purpose if the bank asks.

The authorisation is short, so a relief transfer is sent before 23 October 2026, and after that date money goes to the family as an ordinary transfer for family support.
