The Comorian franc and the euro: a fixed rate and France's guarantee
On 23 November 1979 the Comoros and France signed a monetary cooperation agreement. Under it France guarantees the Comorian franc with no limit on the sum, the country's foreign exchange reserves are held at the French Treasury, and free exchange of the franc for any sum is set out in a separate article. Since 1999 the franc has been pegged to the euro, so a sum in euros is always converted into francs at the same rate.
The calculation for a family is simple: 1,000 euros give the recipient 491,968 francs ($1,200). The bank first converts a transfer in dollars at the day's rate, so it pays to send euros to family in the Comoros.

So that the money arrives in euros or straight in francs, we will suggest how best to send it to the Comoros. The capital is covered on the Moroni page.
We will help you send money to the Comoros
Mistakes cost more than fees: sending in dollars with an extra conversion instead of euros, paying a contractor to a personal account without a contract, a transfer to one island when the family lives on another. We will help you avoid them: we will choose the route and timing, prepare documents on the source of the money for the bank and carry out the transfer through to crediting.
Details and terms are with a manager in the chat: the cost depends on the sum and the purpose of the transfer.
Transfers from France to the Comoros: 18.1% of the economy
Family transfers made up 18.1% of the Comoros economy in 2025, and they come mainly from France, home to about 350,000 people of Comorian origin. Article 7 of the 1979 agreement states plainly that money transfers between France and the Comoros are free. This money supports the country's foreign exchange reserves: at the end of September 2025 they covered 7.6 months of imports, above the norm for small island states.
A transfer from France goes in euros within one payment area with a fixed rate, so the recipient on Ngazidja, Anjouan or Moheli knows the sum in francs in advance. From other countries money arrives by an ordinary international transfer through the recipient's bank.

If your relatives live on different islands, a manager will choose a route that gets the money to each of them without extra trips.
