Grenada citizenship by investment in 2025
Citizenship by investment is a process in which foreign nationals invest in a country and, in return, receive the right to its citizenship. There are several investment routes:
- A government fund. A non-refundable contribution to the country's economy.
- Business. Investing in a business within the country; such an investment can be returned with a profit.
- Real estate. Buying commercial or residential property to rent out for income, or simply purchasing a home to live in and receiving citizenship as a bonus.
- Projects of social significance.
It is worth noting that investment is genuinely the fastest way to obtain a second citizenship.
Many countries have currently suspended the issuance of passports to Russian and Belarusian nationals. Grenada also refuses Russians with a second passport, and programmes open to them, such as Vanuatu, are in the second passport quiz. Let us look at Grenada citizenship by investment: eligibility for Russian nationals, the benefits, the amount required and the processing time.
- Investment amount: from $150,000
- Processing time: 4-6 months
- Nationality restrictions: closed to citizens of Russia and Belarus since 31 March 2023; the second passport quiz finds open programmes
About the country
Grenada is a nation set on the island of the same name in the Caribbean Sea. Its head of state is the King of the United Kingdom, represented by a Governor-General. The population is roughly 110,000. The official language is English, and the capital is St. George's.
Investment options
There are two ways to obtain a Grenadian passport: a contribution to the government fund of at least $150,000, or the purchase of real estate worth at least $220,000. There is no need to visit the country or speak the language. Every member of the investor's family is also entitled to citizenship, and a real estate investment can be recovered after five years.
Passport benefits
The Grenadian passport offers a wide range of advantages:
- visa-free access to 146 countries, including the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom, Singapore and Hong Kong;
- eligibility for the U.S. E-2 business visa;
- a 10-year U.S. tourist visa;
- the ability to register a company in Malta and reduce your tax burden;
- an excellent "safe haven" option.
An alternative: Paraguay citizenship
One of the most attractive citizenship-by-investment options is Paraguay - a strategically located country of opportunity that is open to the world. Paraguay citizenship by investment gives foreign nationals and their families a unique chance to obtain permanent residency for an investment from 70,000 US dollars, then a passport no earlier than three years of living in the country as a permanent resident, and enjoy all its benefits:
- visa-free travel to 145 countries, including the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom and Singapore;
- eligibility for the U.S. E-2 visa;
- tax optimization (a 10% rate);
- the chance to live in a country with a high quality of life and a pleasant climate.

The US: investor visa and tourist visas
- Treaty investor visa. Grenada remains the only Caribbean country with such a citizenship programme and a treaty that opens this visa. But since 23 December 2022 anyone who obtained citizenship through investment must show they lived in Grenada continuously for at least 3 years at some point before applying.
- Tourist visas. Since 2 April 2026 Grenadian citizens have been included in the US visa bond programme, and since 3 August 2026 it has been permanent: a bond of $10,000 to $20,000, a visa valid for up to 3 months, one entry and a stay of up to 30 days. A 10-year visa can no longer be promised on a Grenadian passport.
Risk to visa-free Schengen access
Since 30 December 2025 the EU has had an updated visa suspension mechanism: a citizenship programme for a predetermined payment without a genuine link to the country is in itself a ground for suspending visa-free travel. On 25 June 2026 the EU told Grenada and four other Caribbean countries to wind down such programmes by 1 June 2028. What this means for passports already issued is covered in the article on the EU ultimatum to Caribbean passports.
Alternatives for nationalities Grenada does not accept
- Vanuatu - a contribution from $130,000, usually 1-3 months, but a visa is needed for Schengen and the UK.
- Turkey - an investment from $400,000, 6-8 months.
- Paraguay - permanent residence, then citizenship after three years of living in the country.
